What is Coaching?
What is Coaching?
To put it simply, coaches are trained in questioning techniques. Importantly I don’t offer advice, my role is to help individuals or small groups find their own solutions through reflection, and sometimes challenge.
How I coach…
I am an accredited coach with Relational Dynamics 1st & Culture at Work Ltd. I apply coaching skills to all aspects of my work. Ultimately, this means that I hold a safe, creative space that allows the individual/group to develop their own problem-solving muscle, proactively reflect on work that’s taken place and bring challenging questions into that space to move forward.
What I can offer…
My training used a combination of coaching techniques, emotional intelligence, neurology, psychology and contemporary research into leadership. It is highly affective for both individuals, and to integrate a ‘coaching culture’ into work places. I offer coaching sessions, one-on-one, and small group sessions too. This could be to get an idea off the ground, evaluating post-project, or if you are just feeling a bit lost. Please get in touch if you are interested in either a group coaching session or one-one-one series of sessions and we can discuss what is the best fit for you. At the moment I am still building up my training hours, and can currently offer free coaching sessions for those working in the subsidised arts sector. Take a look here for more info.
Coaching vs. Mentoring
Mentoring provides advice and direction, as well as opening doors for mentees to have new experiences and insights. I can offer mentoring in my specific role as an independent producer in the arts, all you need to do is get in touch to discuss. I may use coaching techniques when I mentor, but this is a different thing to specific coaching sessions.
If you are based in Nottingham or Derby you may also be eligible for The Big House Produce Scheme, where they can offer a package of support (for free!) to help you develop your work and career, which may include up to 12 hours of mentorship from me. Find out more here. You can also contact me directly for more info.
